Grayson's First Haircut

Friday August 2, 2013

Today my hubby surprised me by taking the day off. Initially anyways...He ended up having to work from home. So, we decided to take the morning and get Grayson's hair cut.

I called a local place, Cow Licks Salon that gives you a certificate with before and after photos along with a lock of hair from the first cut. They were able to get us in for a cut so off we went.

When we walked into this place it was like visiting the land of OZ for kids! There were cool vehicle seats where the kids could choose a police car, or race car etc. TV's at every station for the kiddos to watch their favorite shows or movies. We were greeted by a friendly receptionist who took a before photo and off Grayson went.

He immediately chose the Police Car and said, "Whoo Whoo, Mama!"

We asked if they had Thomas videos and they obliged. Grayson sat up in that Police car and saw Thomas come on. He was so excited. Dada and Mama were more nervous of his reaction and the whole cutting of the hair. The Hair dresser placed a brightly colored apron on Grayson backwards so that he would have his hands free to maneuver his Police Car steering wheel. She then asked if he could have a lollipop to help keep him focused and still. See...the Land of OZ , lollipops and everything!

Grayson was more than eager to pick his flavor of lollipop, open, and enjoy his sugary treat while sitting in his Police car and watching his favorite Thomas the Train show. He had 2 lollipops and moved all over in that Police car, playing with the stick shift and the steering wheel. The hair stylist was patient and continued to work. When all was said and done we were happy with the final result. We bought him some Grape Hair Jam - texturizing hair wax and received our certificate. We received a discount on the Hair Jam, and got a percentage off his cut due to a promotional text. All in all it was a great experience. The stylist listened to what we had to say regarding his cut, the staff was friendly and accommodating to Grayson's needs, it was a fun place to get a first hair cut, we received a discount, we have a great heirloom to remember his first haircut experience, and most important Grayson had a blast!

I am saddened because all reminiscence of baby is gone from Grayson. He has hit a milestone with this hair cut and it has shown me what I already knew, your babies grow so fast!!! He looks like a little man! He most definitely is a splitting replica of his Dada now! In just two short years he has gone from chubby bald little baby to our little man!
