Milestone Mania

Grayson and Starr
My Angelic little girl, now 5 months, was just Baptized this past Sunday. We baptized Grayson at the same church. It is wild to think that here we are again with another baby, family and close friends to witness our daughter's first initiation, if you will, into the church and her lifelong religious journey.

We were late arriving to the church service..which having two kids in tow has done to us lately. Still trying to manage time a little better. After the normal service Starr was up. It was her time to shine..Cry..and shine. We were the only Baptism scheduled which was nice for a number of reasons. We got the church to ourselves, a little more time for photos, and it was more personal. Starr wore a cute dress, headband, and pearls....for a limited time, very limited. I purchased the dress from an Etsy Shop Ava Madison Boutique. She wore cute little silver glitter shoes from Grandma, and adorable cross earrings from my friend Christine and her hubby Pete. She looked darling even while screaming and passing gas when anointed with the water and oil.

After the ceremony we headed out to a local restaurant for lunch, Padrinos. I had my favorite spanish dish, Rope Vieja. While we ate, laughed conversed with friends and family, our two year old played with his favorite cousin, and our baby girl slept. We finished off lunch with a creative and delicious masterpiece baked by Paisley Mullin owner of An Extra Ingredient. My idea was based off of the Footprints in the Sand Poem. I gave Paisley my idea and let her take it from there. She did a phenomenal job but what was even better than the cosmetics of the cake...the taste. For me I would rather have a great tasting cake than an amazing looking cake that doesn't taste good. I chose a white cake with a Raspberry filling. It was sooo yummy!!! To top it off it looked great as well! I would recommend her to anyone locally who is looking for a great cake, or cupcakes. She is reliable, talented, friendly and down to earth.  She is someone who I could not only use as my go to baker but also see as becoming a friend. What more could you ask for?

Grayson with his Favorite Cousin
In G-Man news..... he started Preschool this last Monday. SOB!! He was so excited initially and had myself, Starr, Daddy, Nana, and Grandma in tow...Yes..our G-Man had the whole Entourage on his first day of preschool. The only thing missing was the paparazzi. We parked the car and then the apprehension began. We coaxed him out of the car and made it into the class. I was talking to one teacher and the other was getting toys out for Grayson. I was keeping an eye on him as was his entourage. Before I knew it....the entourage was gone and the teacher had managed to get me outside of the classroom. How the hell did that even happen? I am still trying to figure it out...some Alfred Hitchcock S@#$ for real! Then, I realize I never got to say goodbye. I walk in and there he is facing away from me sitting in one of his teachers laps screaming hysterically for me. I wanted so badly to grab him, hug him tell him I love him and that everything would be okay. Honestly, I wanted to do all that and then bring him home into the safe haven he has been for the last two and a half years of his little life. Instead.....I got the forbidden head shake from his teacher. The...not a good idea..just go look and head shake. So, that I did and bawled on the way home.
When I picked him up 3 hours later he was fine. Happy and ran to me with a sticker art project. He told me that he was screaming "Mama!" at school. He was fine when I called the school at 10:00am too. Yes, I am one of those Moms.

Day two was Wednesday and this time there was zero apprehension on the way to school. We even sang in the car. We walked up to the classroom and he placed his back pack in one bin and didn't want to leave his lunch box in the other. Then it began...he started pulling my arm saying, " Bye Bye Mama, Pleeeeease..bye bye!" Oh My. He didn't want to stay. He wanted to go bye bye with Mama. With failed attempts to distract him from one teacher..the other came along to rip him from my arms. (Rip is a little harsh, but you get what I mean.) He was crying again and again so was I on my way home:( When I called at 10am, again he was happy and playing. When I came to pick him up he was all smiles and excited to see me.

First day of Preschool
Day three was this morning. A little apprehension getting ready..wanted to go back home as soon as he got in his car seat. We sang all the way to school and he even placed his bags into the correct bins. Progression in little tiny steps. Again once the teacher said, "Hi Grayson. Are you ready to come in and play?" The tears and desperation for escape began. My heart skipping a beat with every tear that trickled down his little cheeks. However, no tears for me today. They had a parent meeting that I attended and before leaving was able to go to the office to have someone check on G-Man. He was all good! When I picked him up this afternoon..he ran up to me.."Mommy!"  Then, fell asleep in the car.

All in all I know he is doing well after he cries for a shorter amount of time with each passing day. I know that he is having so much fun and making new friends, learning and growing as a little kid should. I cant help but feel that even though he is adjusting and will "get used to it" as I have been told, he may have some sort of psychological and emotional repercussions. One will never know as he is too little to tell, but all in all this is one of life's many lessons..cruel as it may be for Mommy :(
