A Not so Spooky Spider Craft

Ethan, Grayson, and Chase creating their Not so Spooky Spiders
Still in the Halloween Spirit I decided to pick out a craft for our Tot School Tuesday. Now, I did not think it through completely so there is definitely room for changes and improvement. Much to my surprise though, the little ones seemed to enjoy the craft and I was thrilled to have thought of this one all on my own. I didn't search the web for this one.

What you will need:

Foam Ball
Paint
Brushes
Googly Eyes
Glue
Glitter
Pipe Cleaners
Container for the paint

What we did:

The idea was to paint the foam balls black, but we had an array of Finger Paint colors that we just mixed up to make a Muggy color suitable for Halloween.
*A different option could be to paint the ball black ahead of time but painting was fun and part of each child's individual creative process.
*Also, maybe use a pole or stand of some type to stick the ball on to keep in one spot. The balls were rolling all over and it made it tough to paint, though did not discourage the boys.

Chase painting his Spider Masterpiece
We then had the kids stick in different colored pipe cleaners (cut in half) for the legs
*Maybe pre-puncture tiny holes for the pipe cleaners ahead of time to help ease the pipe cleaners into the foam ball. However, it does help with fine motor skills and the boys seemed to enjoy putting them in themselves with the help of their mommies from time to time.

Last we glued googly eyes - G-Man loves googly eyes.

*Glue did not want to stick that well - suggestion would be to push eyes in first to make indent into the foam ball, add glue and then adhere or maybe use double sided tape

G-Man also added black glitter to his Spider

The craft was fun and simple. The little ones enjoyed themselves and all created Spider Masterpieces.
