I was first introduced to The Melting Pot by my mother. She would take me for special occasions or if she wanted to go. It was her place that she enjoyed going to and I was extended the invitation from time to time. I absolutely fell in love. I have always enjoyed food! In my school years I would eat two helpings of dinner on most nights. (Can't do that anymore...but sometimes Really,REALLY wish I could!) I would go to Taco Bell and easily eat 8-10 hard shell tacos like nobody's business. (Now I refer to it as Taco Hell....I did work there in my youth so......I Will Not eat there EVER!) I do still believe that it is a mandatory stop for those late night munchies after drinking , but I still refuse to eat it.
Back to Mom's Night Out..................................................The Melting Pot
Dawn with her Raffle prize |
We arrived at a little after 8pm. It was a fundraising Ladies Night, (Yes. They have Ladies Night.) A local business was raffling and selling their jewelry for the evening. The name of the company is Olinville Treasures, they only do Private & Fundraiser events. The jewelry is Steel and some pieces were quite cute.
Dawn won a pair of hoops in the raffle. She is someone to bump up against because she won the last raffle at The Melting Pot too!
For anyone who has never been to a Melting Pot allow me to give you the 411. This is the place where you go for the experience, good food, and good company (because you want to have good conversation.) It is not a restaurant where they serve you all of your food and you are out the door. This is the place you go to unwind, relax, and slow it down. You literally melt the food in a hot pot that sits on a burner in the middle of the table. Cheese and chocolate is "Melted", but your cooking style broth is liquid so just pretty much mixed and heated. All of your food is brought to you raw and you cook it by dipping into your Fondue Pot. Your Cheese Fondue typically comes with raw veggies and bread. You just dip into the melted cheesy goodness and munch away. If you choose a salad..well..a salad is a salad. Your main fondue is your meat selections, which are plated and raw. You also receive raw veggies. You place everything on the skewers and into your pot. Cook for the allotted times and remove. Dip into your favorite sauce and voila! Dessert is always delicious. You choose your chocolate fondue, this is heated and mixed with certain ingredients (Depending on your selection.) Usually, you will receive a plate of marshmallows, pound cake, cheesecake, & strawberries etc.You are not rushed and you can enjoy your food as each course unfolds, should you choose the 4-course menu. If you prefer, you could just enjoy one Fondue experience. It is up to you. Every fondue experience is unique in blend, taste, and dippers. You still get the opportunity to strike up conversation and really take time to enjoy your meal.

We selected the Cheddar Cheese Fondue, the California Salad, Court Bouillon cooking style, and Flaming Turtle Chocolate Fondue. It was so GOOD!!
On top of a reasonably priced pre-fixed menu with good eats they had specially selected cocktails for $6 and wine by the glass for $5. Oh, and anyone interested....They do a Girl's Night out every month.
Dawn and I were fully entertained by a group of sloshed patrons a few booths down from us. It was hilarious because you could hear the progression from sober to slurber. Some rambles that caught my attention:
Guy: "Do You Know the man who I is?" (Nope, but do you know the woman who I is?)
Same guy as night progressed: "Your Mother, If I was to tell her to have sex with me...she would..."(No Words. I have no words for this statement.)
Dawn and I: " Ummmm...Hmm...O......Kay.."
Dawn and I - to Waitress: "How much have they had to drink?"
Waitress: "2 bottles of wine."
Bus Boy: " They are the worse I have ever seen. I have never seen anyone get that trashed here!"
That pretty much sums it up, but to give them a little credit. They did make us laugh out loud.
Their conversation just progressively got louder, more absurd, more inappropriate, and more slurred as the night progressed. When I say night, I mean in a span of...oh...2 hours tops. They were definitely on the fast track to slurberville.
I eagerly awaited to see these patrons leave (Just to get visuals to go with the voices...but they left out the back way.)
After a full belly, 2 glasses of wine, and a cappuccino it was time to return to Mamaville.
